“The nursery school is the place that marks the first entry of girls and boys into the community. Architecture is key to creating a welcoming and reassuring relationship between children, teachers, caregivers, and families.” AF
The project for the new municipal kindergarten in the Cerenova locality of Cerveteri aims to respond to the shortage of public early childhood facilities, fitting into an urban context where the educational offer for children in the 3-36 months age group is nil.
The intervention is located on a vacant lot in an urban sector with a predominantly residential vocation and establishes a balanced dialogue with the surroundings, with transitional green spaces between the public sphere and the intimate and protected one of the new educational spaces.
A protected courtyard is carved out on the open space, a space for children to play and grow.
The built volume, developed on one floor, is covered by a jagged roof, which harmonizes with the vegetation crowning the lot.
