Born between Marseilles and Venice, her eyes towards the Mediterranean horizon of Genoa, the Whale rises to the surface, to the sky. The sea and the sky are made of the same matter: light.
The Whale comes with us, magically and mysteriously, and encourages us to deeply look for and remain silent, to now resurface and breathe by lauching a dancing, joyful and clear message.
The Whale was born out of the poetic relation and the signs that has united me to Gigi Pescolderung since our meeting for the creation of the Atelier(s) books. I associated his eye to this idea, his hand and his mind to imagine a vertical whale turned to the light and the sky… far from the imaginary which we have always thought to.
A few years ago, I invited my friend, the artist Danilo Trogu, to create the tail of a whale while immersing in water. I then kept it jealously in the garden of Genoa’s studio, among the palm trees, the oaks and the 19th century-aged monumental stones of the Superb City.
A few years ago, my friend, my “frère de combat”, Rudy Ricciotti and I drew a star on the horizon.
There are moments of suspension that measure time and open themselves to different worlds. The whales are “born out of imaginary worlds”, that we try to create all together in the Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia AF517.
Never lose our dreams through the only words.
Never give up the reality nourished with imaginary and visions.
Here is the Whale AF517 and her star.
The journey is going on.
