Alfonso Femia started his research about ceramic around three subjects: the relationship between art and architecture with Danilo Trogu (The Ice Palace in Milan, The Marseilles Docks, the residential complex of Asnières-sur-Seine and the Mediterranean animals), the relationship between the matter and the light by the tridimensionality experimentation of the ceramic developed in the projects of Brescia and Paris with the Diamante Boa.
“For the new headquarters of BNP, I decided to design “Snake”, a ceramic element which is capable to dialog with the facade that I designed with a new concept of cell system, with a different glasses sequence, realized with Stalbhau Pchler. The idea was to propose a “vague” with a variable geometry capable to change color with the change of the sky of Rome’s light and with the goal to take the light over 35 meters of “deep” inside the “belly whale”. The experience that I made in Brescia confirmed me about the possible results.“ Alfonso Femia
