Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia wins the project for the re-functionalization of the pavilions of the former Regina Margherita hospital complex into an archaeological museum, earthquake museum, and headquarters of the superintendence for the cultural and environmental heritage of Messina.

“The culture citadel will become a point of reference for the city of Messina.
It will turn into a further attraction for cultural tourism: the archaeological museum, rich in narratives in which history intertwines with mythology, will interact with another founding element of this territory - the 1908 earthquake. With this choice, the Region of Sicily goes beyond the logic of patrimonial enhancement, building a significant cultural opportunity on a European scale, continuing and consolidating an essential regenerative path."
