Nearly 700 dwellings, 150 of these are rent-controlled housing, and 90 for the elderly, offices, and spaces with commercial use: the numbers of the intervention in Marseille signed by Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia with Carta Associés.
The new neighborhood overlooks an icon of modern architecture, Le Corbusier's Unité d'Habitation, and the Vélodrome stadium. It accommodates and reworks the heterogeneity of the context, parking lots, warehouses, and urban villas, in a synthesis of Mediterranean colors - the white of the Calanques, the blue of the sea - of evocative shapes and materials - the design of the loggias, the ceramics, and the circular-section pillars.
The new neighborhood is located on the line of the river, accompanying it for a stretch towards the sea.
