Crossing, experiencing a land. A high-speed line crosses the land, uses it and provides it with a service which puts it on the “network”. The line around Vesuvius creates a system of relations with the land in an extraordinary combination of landscape and city, reality and dreams. Where these two lines come together provides the chance to invent a place more closely tied to the idea of a space inside an urban-agricultural park than that of a self-referential building closed onto itself.
The seamless sequence of open, open-closed, closed-open spaces forms a public space, which identifies with the sounds and scents of the land as it changes skin with the passing seasons. Interplays of reflections and transparencies, a variety of perspectives and framings of the landscape complete the journey.
