«Our project aims to create a new centralized function and symbolism of the campus: the “DOCK” Learning Center, at the heart of an ensemble of shared, connected and evolved uses.» AF

Project objectives:
• Renovate the building envelope and equipment in order to significantly reduce energy consumption and the building’s environmental footprint;
• Rethink the use of the building to optimize its hosting capacity and provide modern, high-quality, functional, modular, and flexible workspaces;
• Offer an ecosystem of diversified spaces in line with new needs, uses, and work modes: individual and collective needs, flexibility requirements, needs for privacy and confidentiality, need for connectivity, agile/project-based working;
• Embed this project within a sobriety-oriented approach by promoting the reuse and recycling of removed elements and limiting the use of highly carbon-intensive resources.

Challenges and uses:
• Maintain a space dedicated to training (traditional courses),
• Preserve the activity related to the economic development service (including training rooms),
• Relocate the documentation space from Building B to Building G to become the Dock, enriching the services it provides and rethinking its functions and role within the School and in the service of students (in the form of a learning center);
• Create a living space for students within the School, particularly in Building G, one they can fully engage with, in resonance and complementarity with the other available spaces (Croupillac site, Maison des élèves), while also considering circulation flows;
• Continue opening IMT Mines Alès to the Alès urban area, enhancing territorial reach;
• Encourage multidisciplinary practices within the school, between services, staff, and students;
• Improve users’ working conditions (PRM accessibility, summer comfort with solar shading and winter comfort, increased natural light input, improved flows and visual connections inside/outside, implementation of New Workspaces, etc.).
