“An atypical environment, combining a characteristic suburban fabric along former rural roads, social housing, and railway divisions.” AF
Located along the banks of the Garonne, this emblematic site is a perfect reflection of a territory shaped by highly contrasting uses. Its history and geography make it an atypical environment, combining a characteristic suburban fabric along former rural roads, social housing, and railway divisions. Here, the initial objectives revolve around this dual approach of dialogue and interface between heritage and renewal. In this context, Quai Wilson is defined as a major axis of redevelopment, restoring Bègles to its identity.
The site is structured around strong environmental components that give the project plot a unifying role. The flows of the Garonne to the east echo the green expanse to the south, which hosts a magnificent wooded park. To the north, the plot borders a beautiful late 19th-century residence that must be preserved.
