“The land is designed around the path of a stream of water: the River Lambro, whose bends shape the city and support the system of houses, circuit and urban axes.” AF
The land is designed around the path of a stream of water: the River Lambro, whose bends shape the city and support the system of houses, circuit and urban axes. The process of anthropization, moving from west to east from the river to the city, is embodied in a sequence of increasingly structured realms: the water park, grassy clearings, the green filter with the street-landscape right through ultimately to the inner-city park. The architectural style of the buildings is a rereading of the courtyard system of Cascinazza itself, tracing how the buildings relate to the contextual landscape: closed courtyards along the most infrastructured front to the south, open courtyards where there is supposed to be interaction with the park, blades where the building tends to be rarefied in favour of visual permeability and spatial continuity.
