The building is located in the municipality of Milan, at Via Benvenuto Cellini 11, in the eastern part of the city near Piazza Cinque Giornate. It stands in a high-value context just outside the Bastioni ring. Situated within the urban development envisioned by the Beruto Plan at the end of the 19th century, the building aligns with the continuous “cortina” block fabric of that era. The surrounding context is prestigious, with a predominance of late 19th and early 20th-century buildings. Constructed in 1904, the building sits on a corner and features two street-facing sides: the main one on Via Cellini and the second on Via Marcona. The design proposal is the result of a careful survey of the current state of the site, with the aim of enhancing the interior spaces—including the current basement and attic areas—reviving the courtyard as a quality space, and upgrading the building from an energy perspective in accordance with maximum sustainability, indoor comfort, and consumption optimization. All goals are aligned with the new PGT (Territorial Government Plan) of the City of Milan. The intervention is configured as a renovation that respects the existing structure as much as possible, with localized modifications designed to ensure full functionality, compositional order, and consistency with the architectural language of the early 20th century.
